Hy-Vee attempted the Guinness World Records title to celebrate the launch of supermarket's new breakfast menu. Despite a torrential thunderstorm in the middle of the attempt, 18 chefs worked on six propane griddles over seven hours to make the pancakes, which were donated to Harvesters - The Community Food Network.
