In September 2013, Indian bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth was handed a life ban from cricket after being found guilty of spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab on 9 May 2013. While some cricketers have been successful in overturning life bans, as of November 2013 Ankeet Chavan (India), Hansie Cronje (South Africa), Danish Kaneria (Pakistan), Ajay Sharma (India) and T P Sudhindra (India) had all been handed lifetime bans for match-fixing and/or spot-fixing.
At the time of writing (November 2013), Mohammad Ashraful and Shariful Haque (both Bangladesh) had been suspended indefinitely after for fixing offences in the 2013 and 2012 Bangladesh Premier League, respectively, and could face lifetime bans. Additionally, Ajit Chandila (India), arrested with Sreesanth and Chavan in May 2013, was still awaiting his Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hearing.
