Sarah Hernandez (b. 28 March 1965) was 53 years 149 days old when she made her international debut for Mexico Women against Brazil Women during the South American Women’s Championships at Los Pinos Polo Club 2 in Bogotá, Cundinamarca Department, Colombia, on 24 August 2018.
Hernandez – who broke a record set 142 years earlier by England’s James Southerton (b. 16 November 1827; aged 49 years 119 days on 15 March 1877) – held the overall record for just nine months, when James Moses (b. 8 August 1965) made his international debut for Botswana against Uganda on 20 May 2019, aged 53 years 285 days.
Hernandez was dismissed for a nine-ball duck as Mexico collapsed to 18 all out – then the lowest-ever score in a women’s Twenty20 International – chasing Brazil’s 168 for 4.
