The largest environmental award (prize) is the Earthshot Prize, which awarded £1,000,000 ($1,374,450 / €1,184,830) to multiple winners, as of 17 October 2021.

The Earthshot Prize was launched in by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Guinness World Records Hall of Fame inductee Sir David Attenborough (both UK), with the support of multiple individuals and organizations dedicated to climate action.

5 winners were selected from over 750 worldwide nominations:

  • Protect and Restore Nature: The Republic of Costa Rica, for "a scheme paying local citizens to restore natural ecosystems that has led to a revival of the rainforest."
  • Clean our Air: Takachar, India, for a "technology to create profitable products from agricultural waste and put a stop to the burning of crops."
  • Revive our Oceans: Coral Vita (Bahamas), for a "coral farming project designed to restore the world's dying coral reefs."
  • Build a Waste-Free World: The City of Milan Food Waste Hubs (Italy), for a "city-wide initiative that has dramatically cut waste while tackling hunger."
  • Fix our Climate: AEM Electrolyser, (Thailand/Germany/Italy), for "an ingenious clean hydrogen fuel technology designed to transform how homes and buildings are powered."
