The first person to win Olympic Volleyball gold as a player and coach is Lang Ping (China), as a player in Los Angeles, USA, at the 1984 Summer Olympics, and as a coach, Rio, Brazil, at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Lang Ping (Jenny, aka "Iron Hammer") is a former Chinese volleyball player and the current head coach of China women's national volleyball team. As a player, she won gold at Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics. She became the head coach of Chinese national team in 1995 but resigned in 1998 due to health reasons. She returned to the role in 2013 and guided the team to gold at Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
